YANG is a powerful and extensible modeling language that was designed at the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) from the requirements of network operators to provision network devices and services.
YANG has been so successful that it has been adopted as the standard for modeling in many other standards bodies and consortiums such as the IEEE, Metro Ethernet Forum, OpenDaylight, and OpenConfig, and the number of YANG modules being implemented is growing rapidly, see: Yang data models in the industry - current state of affairs.
